Ellen Florence Greenwell

Ellen Florence (Rosenau) Greenwell, age 72, of Beatrice, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, in Bellevue, Nebraska. She was born on December 1, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri where she also graduated high school. She attended college at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she met her future husband Bruce Greenwell, to whom she was happily married for over 52 years.

Ellen was a dedicated wife and mother, raising three sons and one daughter, and providing selfless love and support to her husband Bruce, who served as a music teacher in Arkansas, and then in numerous Nebraska schools, taking them to live in Hildreth, Diller, and Beatrice where they made their home for 35 years. Ellen enjoyed family summer vacations, laughing with friends and family, and loved to study the Bible with friends in home Bible studies.

She is survived by her four children, Max (Jennifer), Samuel (Jenny), Paul (Alicia), and Anne (Jarmon Crowley); and 12 grandchildren, Molly, Zachary, Benjamin, Claire, Isaac, Ethan, Nathanael, Morgan, Ryan, June, Jasper, and Jax. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Greenwell; parents, Daniel and Elnora Rosenau; her brother, Daniel; and sister, Susan.

Memorial services will be held on July 28, 2025, at 11:00 am at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Omaha, Nebraska, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Ellen will be laid to rest in Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68106.
