I will never forget that it was Frank waiting for me at the train station when I moved to Omaha in 1984. I was scared and sad to be leaving the only family I had ever known, but he was there waiting. Frank was an ally in a very tumultuous time in my life.
He was the clear & preferred choice to do the grocery shopping. We could always count on Frank for soda, cookies, chips and all the good stuff. My girls were very impressed their Gump worked at Krispy Kreme. They thought that was the coolest job ever and knew they would always get a donut at Gump's house.
To his close family, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Frank was a good soul and I'm sorry we lost touch. I will never forget everything he did for me. I loved him and he will always hold a special place in my heart.

The first time I met Frank was when I was picking up his step-daughter (and my future wife), Tammy, for a 4th of July party in 1993. I liked him immediately as he jokingly warned me about 'the Blankenfeld women'. Tammy always had kind things to say about Frank and how he made her feel welcome and loved when she first moved to Omaha during a very difficult time in her life. I got to know Frank over the years as a very kind and helpful Father-In-Law and a loving grandfather to my daughters. My middle daughter Henley, called Frank 'Gump' as a toddler and the nickname stuck. Frank always enjoyed babysitting our daughters with Barbara, playing and making snacks for them and was a very big part of their early lives. Frank was a good man, and one that I always respected, he will be missed.
