Gary Lee Walters was born July 24, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Omaha South High School in 1960 and married his wife Diane Sue (Joerns) Walters on April 6, 1962. Gary was an owner/operator and worked as a long-haul truck driver for 45 years and retired in 2007. He worked as a part-time Security Guard after retirement.
Gary loved cars, racing, fishing and shooting at the Eastern Nebraska Gun Club and was an avid shooting enthusiast and a strong 2nd Amendment supporter. Gary and his son Mark built and raced a purple 1969 Chevy Nova in NHRA Drag Racing for several years.
Gary and Diane enjoyed camping with the Vagabond Camping group – enjoying many great camping adventures always taking their dogs along. He and Diane were active at the Ralston Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his daughter Christine Parkison in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Diane (married 59 years); son, Mark Walters (Renee); grandchildren, Jeremy and Jennifer Parkison; and sister, Leta (Bill) Wilson.
