

Helen Neutzner Kalocsa died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 5, 2023. Preceded in death by her husband Julius Kalocsa and parents Josef and Karola Neutzner. Survived by her younger sister Hannelore Neutzner Rogers; her brother Heinz Neutzner and sister-in-law Patricia Louise (O’Donnell) Neutzner; niece Deborah S. Neutzner-Askew; niece Peggy Ann Neutzner-Johnson and her husband Daniel L. Johnson; grandnieces and -nephews Kylee (August Hogan III), Kaleb, and Kelsey Askew and Nathan and Lucas Johnson.
The oldest of three children, Helen was born in Czechoslovakia, in the German-speaking region known as the Sudetenland. After World War II, forced to leave their homeland in 1946, the Neutzner family settled in Germany and in 1954 emigrated to America, settling in Omaha, NE. Multi-talented, Helli became not only an accomplished commercial artist, working for decades at Bozell & Jacobs, but also created superb oil and water color paintings. She was gifted musically, playing the piano well into her ’90. She was an independent, joyful spirit, courageous, generous, and caring, with a lifelong devotion to her family. Helli was loved by all whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life for Helli will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A private committal will occur at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106.
