Jean Lucy Clifford
January 7, 1939 – May 18, 2020
Preceded in death by son, Michael; siblings, Louis, Anna Marie, Claira, and Vince. Survived by husband of 55 years, Tom; siblings, Floyd, Theresa, Myron, Joe, and Don.
Jeanie lived a long full life, traveling throughout the country with her husband Tom. While not an extreme adventurist, she'd try most anything once and would ride for days just to see the sunset from a new angle.
She was also one of the most generous souls I've encountered. While she and Tom lived modestly, they were able to create an abundance for themselves and shared it freely.
When she was close to retirement a 12 year old neighbor kid asked if she'd take him in. The boys name was Billy and without thinking twice, Tom and Jean took him under their wing as if their own.
Billy lived with Tom and Jean until the age of 21 when he once again reunited with his mother. He still calls just like any son would do and was given a life that would not have been possible otherwise. He's eternally grateful for her selfless act and turned out to be a productive and independent member of society.
Since they lived in a lower income urban neighborhood, there was/is no shortage of need surrounding them. I remember a few years ago when a young homeless woman approached me in Jeanie's driveway asking if we had some food to share.
I immediately brought her to Jeanie, who offered a shower, clean clothes and fixed her a meal worthy of royalty. This was simply Jeanie's nature. She could no more deny another the basics than she would deny herself. If you showed up to her home, you left with a full belly.
Jeanie, you touched the hearts of many, even indirectly through the many donations you made to worthy causes throughout the years, especially mine. You'll be missed by everyone who's paths crossed yours and we know you'll be there in heaven to greet us, when we are worthy enough to join you.
There's no doubt you are in a good place and we'll feel your touch whenever a ray of the sun shines over us.
With love, All those you have touched

I remember how sweet you were to your nieces Denise and Diane and nephew Michael when you babysat them when we lived a few blocks from you over on Taylor St.

Jeanie, though all your good deeds may not be remembered, you always will be. You are one of the few that has a place in my heart and I love you.
Jeanie was the most giving person I know and did so without judgement. She offered her home, material things, food and a hug to all, even if she just met you. We would all be better people by emulating just 1% of her character.
We miss you💓
