Joseph Bernard Seefeld, known to family and friends as "Joe," passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 96. Born in Guide Rock, Nebraska, on December 18, 1928, Joe was the youngest son of Charles and Fern Seefeld. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, his son Scott, and his eight siblings: brothers Homer, Merle, Bob, and John, and sisters Viola, Norma, Virginia, and Lila.
Joe's life was marked by love and dedication to his family. He met his beloved wife Donna on a blind date, and they were married in April 1952. Together, they raised three sons, and shared 50 years of marriage before Donna's passing. Joe is survived by two of his sons, Tim Seefeld and Kevin Seefeld; four grandchildren, Kari Seefeld, Bryan Seefeld, Christopher Seefeld (Kelsey Seefeld), and Ashley Seefeld; and two great-grandchildren, Matthias Seefeld and Elizabeth Seefeld.
Joe dedicated 40+ years of his career working at MUD in Omaha, Nebraska. He had a passion for fishing and hunting, and enjoyed spending early mornings with friends and family hunting for pheasants or ducks. When his sons became teenagers, he often enjoyed teaching them how to take care of their cars.
Beneath Joe's gruff exterior was a sharp wit that kept everyone on their toes. His most legendary piece of advice to his grandchildren was, "In life, you get to choose if you're going to be a pigeon or a statue," a reminder to rise above challenges and never let anyone 'walk' all over you.
A visitation for Joe will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
Joe's family would like to express their gratitude for the love and support during this time. His memory will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him.
