Joseph T. Spielman

December 24, 1954 - May 1, 2013

Joseph Thomas Spielman, 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by wife and family following a ten-month battle with Esophageal Cancer.

Joe is survived by wife Teresa (Coffelt); five children, Matthew James, James Patrick, Hannah Marie, Katie Jean and Jack William; parents, Don and Lucy Spielman; and siblings, Mary Ann McNally (Mike), Jean Housh (Allen), John (Laurie), Tom, Rich, Kate, Bob (Tanya) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and good friends. Joe was preceded in death by brother, James Patrick.

A 1973 graduate of Cathedral High School, Joe and wife, Teresa, have co-owned and operated Joe’s Duck Inn in Millard, NE since 1983.

Joe coached many of his children’s Hillside and Grover softball and little league teams and was named “Coach of the Year” in 2003 by the Nebraska State Little League Softball Champions.

An avid sportsman, Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, baseball and was inducted into the Omaha Metro Shuffleboard League Hall of Fame in 2009.

Visitation Sunday, May 5th with family present from 5 pm to 8 pm with a celebration of Joe’s life at 7 pm.at the Funeral Home.

Memorial Service 10 am Monday, May 6th at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral 701 N 40th Street, Omaha, NE

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to be used for the Spielman children’s education.
