Joe is survived by his wife, Paula Washka; his sisters, Diane Terry, Verda Johnson; and many nieces and nephews; six children, Scott Vanderwerf (Trina), Matt Vanderwerf (Kerri), Michelle Hunt (Josh), Sarah Kirkpatrick (Brody), Jessica Wilson (Scott), Stephanie Hansen (Chris); many many grand and great grandchildren.
He went to Omaha South High School and worked for the City of Omaha and enjoyed restoring old cars, winning trophies at car shows. He had alot of buddies from grade school that have kept in touch. He loved spending time with his family.
He loved having fun and putting a smile on everyone's face that he met. He loved telling jokes, laughing, and playing cards.
He was a very hard worker and taught his kids good work ethics, how to love, be responsible and how to live with Jesus.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 3 to 5 pm. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 27, 2025 at 10 am with Burial to follow. All services at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
