I am so sorry for your loss. I’ve met Katie a few times through Nebraska Cancer Specialists. She and my husband, Chris, were co-workers. We spent some time with her at a football game on the field at Memorial Stadium! 
She was such a fun and beautiful person.

Katie and I have been friends for 11 years since the beginning of our freshman year at USF. I have always been a quieter person when I'm around people I don't know, but I just gravitated towards her. She has always held such a fun and positive energy, we became friends quickly. Katie was always such an easy person to talk to and she can bring just about anybody out of their shell. Her laughter was contagious and that girl was always laughing. So many of my memories at St Francis involve her. Anywhere from our wild weekends, taking our very first uber ride, or playing with Mu in the quad. 

I will forever cherish these memories that I have. My heart is so heavy and she will be forever missed. Katie will always be my friend. I have the deepest condolences for all her family and friends. I know how much she meant to me and how much she meant to so many others. She loved her friends and family so fiercely. Rest in peace Witas ❤️

I believe this picture sums up how I will always remember Katie.  HUGE smile and laughter with an even BIGGER heart.   In the gymnastics world teammates and coaches develop friendships that last a lifetime.  When I shared the news about Katie's passing I was absolutely overwhelmed at the amount of staff, teammates, and friends she had through her time at the gym who were truly saddened by her passing.  I know if she could today, she would stop by the gym just to see if she could still do her standing back tuck. (Getting a video of course) Katie will forever be part of the Pirouettes Gymnastics Family.  Her friendship, smiles, and laughter will be missed.  We love her and we are truly better people for knowing her. We are all sending love and hugs to her family and friends as they go through this difficult journey.

Katie and I met our freshmen year at USF. Our shared classes and mutual friends brought us together. Weekday studying turned to weeknight hangouts…and boy did we go all out. Some of my fondest memories of USF include Katie and maybe some of my wildest nights too. When I think of Katie I think of how she was always smiling, laughing, and living in the moment. She was that friend that rooted for you big or small. 
Katie has been a friend through distance and time. No matter the time in between, we picked up right where we left off. 
My heart breaks knowing that we can’t pick up tomorrow. I’ll always cherish the time we spent together and always remember the fun loving friend that she is.

We are so very sorry to learn of your great loss. We will always cherish our memories of Katie. She was the sweetest, funniest, silliest girl with the most infectious smile. My heart is breaking for everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Katie. Linda, I am sending the biggest hugs your way. May your love and memories of Katie help you through this most difficult time. We will always cherish the time Tiffanie spent with Katie.  We are so sorry that we can not make it up to Illinois but please know that you will all be in our hearts and thoughts. Katie will never be forgotten.  I can still see Tiff and Katie in their red velvet leotard with their red and gold sequin skirt wraps performing their Gymnastics routine for the Lieb Talent show, or the time when they were having so much fun playing in your sandbox that they both peed their pants because neither of them wanted to stop playing and then you had to put them in the tub and how much they giggled. I am so very sorry for your loss of Katie!  She had such a beautiful spirit!  I had only known her for a short time, but she has left a permanent space in my heart.  She was my research coordinator at Nebraska Cancer Specialists.  From day one she made me feel important and cared for.  I will never forget even after a cancer treatment did not work for me, she told me she will be watching and looking to find me another.  Even when doing other treatments, she would always stop and visit with that huge beautiful smile.  When she didn’t have to she was continually keeping up with what was going on and watching for my scan results.  I remember just over two months ago she came to me and said I think we have a new study that you qualify for.  I felt like she was as happy as I was.  Katie was genuine and anybody that had the pleasure of meeting her was blessed.  Again I am very sorry for the loss of your sweet Katie.   Juanita O’Neil

Katie was always so much fun to be around, she was constantly smiling and laughing and always loved to be goofy with everyone. She had the absolute best personality and outlook on life even in the hardest times. She was amazing at just about everything she did at work and always pushed me to reach for my goals no matter what the case. Her soul was absolutely beautiful and she was a blessing to those who's hearts had the privilege of knowing and having her be apart of their lives. We love you Katie 💜 Always 💜

Katie lit up every room she was in with her contagious laugh and smile. I will cherish all the pool parties, summer bbqs, and brunches that I got to share with Katie and my cousin Sam filled with crazy stories, cocktails, & endless laughs.  Katie you will forever be missed🤍

When I met Katie, I knew that she was an amazing person. Katie and I were always laughing ❤️ Katie had a gift to make everyone smile. Thank you Katie for being such a wonderful friend. My heart is broken and I will cherish the time that we spent together and the memories that I made with you. 

I will always remember the laughs we shared, the stories we told, and the drinks we poured at our many summer pool parties. My sister, Sam, and Katie were super close, which allowed me to kind of grow up with her. I would’ve never thought our 4th of July party would’ve been the last time I saw Katie. I will miss her terribly. It was always such a treat when I came home to my parents’ house and Katie was over. She always talked to me like I was her friend too. Sending my deepest sympathy to the Witas family during this difficult time.

Our hearts are breaking just knowing Katie is no longer here. We have so many fun memories of Katie & Mag doing gymnastics together,  always hanging out & doing cartwheels down every hallway & aisle they could find.
