Born in a tiny house in Omaha, Nebraska, Larry built a life grounded in hard work, family, and a passion for the things he loved. He dedicated over 30 years of service to United AG and later ran his own excavating company for more than a decade. His work ethic was matched only by his creativity and patience, qualities he brought to his hobbies, especially wood carving and metal machine work.
He was a man of quiet strength and steady presence, the kind of person who found joy in the details. Whether leading Boy Scout troops while his sons participated, or meticulously working in his shop, he approached every task with care and intention.
Together with his beloved wife, Mary Ann, he was an active member of the Camp Creek Railroaders. Their shared love of steam engines took them on many memorable adventures, particularly to Colorado, where they rode the historic steam trains and reveled in the beauty of the mountains. He also had a lifelong love for all things western, from classic films, TV shows to snap up shirts.
Above all, Larry was a family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Ann; his parents, Edward and Minnie; his brothers, Roger and Jerry; and his great-granddaughter, Savannah.
He is survived by his 4 sons, 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Larry will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. Following the visitation will be a service at 1:00 PM.
