Marleen Kay Barta (née Valder), age 80, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025. Marleen was born on August 30, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered around her family.
She is survived by her two children, Diana Barta and Rob Barta; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Karen Sue Whittier.
Preceded in death by husband, John Barta; parents, Willis and Evelyn (Moffitt) Valder; brother, Eugene Rollins; and sister, Janice Scripter.
Marleen will be remembered for her unwavering love, quiet strength, and the deep sense of care she extended to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with kindness and grace. She always look forward to family gatherings so she could fill everyone's belly or make cookies with all the grandchildren.
A visitation for Marleen will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
