Nancy Lou Winkelmann

Nancy Lou (Johnson) Winkelmann, 69, entered life eternal on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 5-7pm at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the funeral home with burial at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Nancy was born at Immanuel Hospital to Russell Maynard and Rowena Dorothy (Gruber) Johnson on June 3, 1947. She graduated from Omaha North High School in 1965 and the University of Nebraska in 1969. Nancy was a United Airlines flight attendant for 32 years. Nancy loved her family and friends, the Nebraska Huskers, the North High Vikings and dogs. In 2008, Nancy moved to Charlottesville Virginia to be closer to her only sibling, brother Robert Johnson. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Rowena; aunts Bonnie Danze and Shirley Mangels; uncles Jack Danze, Bill Halpenny, Bob McVay, Bill Mooneyham, Bill Overmyer; cousin John Danze; and many dog companions. She is survived by her brother Bob, his wife Heidi, her nephew Jack, her precious dog Abby, many family members and dear friends, including her beloved friend Debbie Baber. Memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s honor to the Nebraska Humane Society.
