

Raymond L. Grove, 87, passed away on February 17, 2015 from a severe, sudden stroke. He lived at home and was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. Dr. Grove was a dentist who practiced in Omaha from 1954 to 1989 when his son, Raymond L. Grove, Jr. DDS followed in his footsteps. Dr. Grove touched numerous lives in his chosen career, his community and his church. Ray Grove was born in Alliance, NE, on December 12, 1927. He graduated from Doane College in 1950 and was married the same day to Dorothy Williams who preceded him in death. They were married for 60 years when she passed away. Ray went on to dental school at the University of Nebraska where he received his DDS in 1954. Dr. Grove joined the Air Force as an officer serving as a dentist in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Grove returned to Omaha to establish his dental practice, Dundee Dental Associates. He was instrumental in the dental field serving in leadership roles in the Omaha Dental Association (President 1970-71), Nebraska Dental Association (President 1987-88) and the International College of Dentists. He was made a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (1972), a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (1977), recipient of the H.O. Westerdahl Award from the ICD (1980), and elected to the Nebraska Dental Association Hall of Fame (1996). Dr. Grove was a 55-year member of Dundee Presbyterian Church where he served in many leadership capacities and greatly appreciated and enjoyed his loving church family. Dr. Grove was involved in community organizations up to his death. He joined the Omaha Golden Kiwanis in October 1991 and in October 2013 received the Distinguished Service Award for eight years of chairing the Human and Spiritual Values Committee. He reported on the health of the Golden K members, arranged approximately 400 invocations, special “Thought for the Day” one liners, and health reports for his club. He was a past member of the Omaha Downtown Rotary and a 50-year member of the Tangier Shrine-Omaha, where he served in the Greeter Unit. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Omaha-Valley and member of Saints John Lodge of Education Masonic Temple No 331.
Dr. Grove was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He lived life to the fullest up to the end, snorkeling in the Cayman Islands one week prior to his death. He loved life at his cabin, was an avid Canadian fisherman, and smoker of fine cigars.
Dr. Grove is survived by his daughter, Nina Clark, son, Raymond L. Grove Jr. DDS, daughter-in-law Marjie Grove, son-in-law Jim Clark, brother Robert Grove of Golden, Colorado, grandchildren Lindsey Grove, Chase Grove, James Clark, Lauren Roesner, Matt Roesner and great grand-daughter, Stella Roesner.
