It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Regina (Jean) M. Stofko, a pillar of strength; full of love, generosity, and devotion. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her children in Omaha, Nebraska on October 28, 2026 at the age of 90.
Jean was born on September 15, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to Michael Covahey and Elsie Lohr. Jean met her husband, Robert (Bob) Stofko, at Catalyst Research in Baltimore and married on May 25th, 1963. They shared a loving life together and had three children, Thomas, Kathleen, and James. She was an avid duck pin bowler and enjoyed crafting, especially ceramics. Jean and Bob loved spending time at the beach in Ocean City, MD and took a family vacation each year; driving to most states within the US. They were also sports fans, cheering on the Orioles, Colts, and Ravens.
In 1983, Bob’s job moved them to Omaha, NE. Jean continued bowling but switched to ten-pin. She dabbled in golf and loved to cook, play cards, read thrillers and mysteries, and cheer on the Huskers. Bob sadly passed away in 2001 at the age of 70. Her focus then turned to her grandchildren, Alexa and Erica whom she adored.
Above all, Regina was a child of God. She cherished her Catholic faith and was a devoted follower of Christ. She offered her time conducting bible studies, praying for departed souls at cemeteries, and delivering the eucharist to the homebound. She prayed the rosary often, and her life was marked by love, service, and a deep commitment to her faith.
Regina is survived by sons, Thomas (Suzanne) Stofko and James Stofko; daughter, Kathleen (James) Fenn; granddaughters, Alexa and Erica Fenn; brother, Elmer Covahey; beloved nephew, James (Katherine) Tiburzi, and extended family and friends.
She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Robert Stofko; parents, Michael and Elsie Covahey; brothers, Bernard, Russell, Leonard, and Edward Covahey; sisters, Dorothy (Frank) Shuman and Mary (Joseph) Tiburzi; nephew, Hartsel Covahey; niece, Nancy Yelton; and many other loved ones.
Jean was kind-hearted, nurturing, generous, and spirited. She will be greatly missed, and her love and laughter will be forever in our hearts.
