Robert graduated from Bristow, Oklahoma with the 49er's. He spent his junior and senior year of high school running Banks Photography Studio.
Robert then went on to serve in the Air Force and was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. Following the service, he went to Oklahoma State University and graduated as a civil engineer. He retired from Cathodic Protection Services at the age of 80. Robert traveled the world providing cathodic protection at many air force bases and missile sites.
He is preceded in death by first wife, Rachel Holt Banks; second wife, Joanne Steel Banks; daughter, Shirlee Sherman; and grandson, John Jacob North. Robert is survived by 6 children, 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren!
He was a lifelong patron of the arts with memberships in 2 or 3 Playhouses. He loved outdoor concerts and loved to visit Branson Missouri every year to see 2-3 events a day.
Please join us in celebrating Robert's life. Visitation will be held at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Robert will be laid to rest at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, followed by a return to the funeral home for a time of socializing.
Robert lived a long, full life.
