

Rodney “Rod” Clark Dahlquist, 87, passed away on July 29, 2025 in Omaha, NE. Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend, and will be greatly missed by those who love him.
He was born Feb. 23, 1938, to Holgar and Mary (Matz) Dahlquist. He grew up with a younger brother, David. Born in Omaha, NE, Rodney attended Adams Elementary and graduated from Benson High School.
After high school, Rodney attended the University of NE Lincoln, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Post-college he worked at Westinghouse Electric as an Electrical Engineer for 22 years. During his first few years of working at Westinghouse, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves, and later the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
Rodney married Gloria Wray, from Council Bluffs, IA. Together they raised four children. A devoted family man, he was a strong role model. When Rodney was asked if he had hobbies, his answer was “raising his children/family”.
In 1983, Rodney purchased land and designed/built apartment complexes. He eventually left Westinghouse to start his full-time journey as an entrepreneur, actively owning/maintaining apartment complexes for over 40 years. He took pride in owning a business he created and loved.
Rodney loved mathematics, problem-solving, and designing. He was an avid coin collector and loved old movies. He was a devoted Husker fan; holding season tickets for 60 years. He was very generous, regularly donating to numerous charitable organizations.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, (Mary and Holgar Dahlquist) and brother (David). He is survived by his loving wife: Gloria, children: Ruthie (Jake), Rodney Jr. (Katie), Susan (Dave), Ryan and grandchildren: Christina, Natalie, Aidan, Aiden, London, and Marilyn.

A visitation for Rodney will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1821 N. 90th St., Omaha, Nebraska 68114. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 10:00 AM at St Mark Lutheran Church, 1821 N 90th St, Omaha, NE 68114.
Rodney will be laid to rest at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park on August 9, 2025 following the funeral service.
