Ronald Claire Swallow

July 22, 1946 – October 19, 2016

Ronald Claire Swallow was born in Lincoln, NE, on July 22, 1946 to Robert W. Swallow and Lillian Viola (Wilson) Swallow. He passed from this life into everlasting life on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Omaha, NE at the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 27 days.

Ron was a United States Marine and a Vietnam veteran. He volunteered and was accepted into the Corps on July 31st, 1964 and served until December 16th, 1975, when he retired from active duty in the Corps after 11 years, 4 months, and 16 days of service. He achieved the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and served in a MACS unit in Vietnam for three consecutive tours of duty.

Ron was a lifelong Cornhusker fan, attending regular and Bowl games whenever he could, and otherwise watching them with family and friends.

Ron was a graduate of Omaha Technical High School 1964 and Kearney State College - BS 1978. He was an Arizona CPA from 1980 to 1985.

Ron continued his government service as an Internal Revenue Agent and as an internal auditor in the US Treasury Department until his retirement.

Ron was married to Esperanza (Hope) Cortez from 1968 to 1992. To this marriage were born a daughter Rachael Renee – 1969 and a son Ronald Bryan – 1973.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Swallow; his sister, Carol Ann Houck; his step-sister Kristi Swallow Kleckner; an uncle, Clarence L. Schlegel, and all of his other aunts and uncles on both his father’s (Swallow) and mother’s (Wilson) sides of the family. He is survived by his daughter, Rachael; his son, Bryan; and his beloved grandchildren Keisha, LaKeith and Nicolas, and great-grandchildren Amarius, Aiyana and Azekeil; all of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his mother, Lillian V. Swallow of Lincoln, NE; brother Bob (Sharon) Swallow of Spring, TX, nieces Charmayne (Wade) Barnes of Lubbock, TX; Melanie (Stuart) Morrison and family of Tomball, TX; and nephews David (Maricel) Swallow of Spring, TX; Chad Houck and family of , MI; and Scott (Amy) Houck and family of Omaha, NE; as well as an aunt, Lucille E. Schlegel of Culbertson, NE; step-brothers Mike (Judy) Swallow of Omaha; Steve Swallow, Jeff (Julie) Swallow, a step-sister, Debbie (Steve) Kleckner of Yutan, NE; and a number of cousins.
