Samuel Alexander Warren

Samuel “Sam” Alexander Warren, affectionately known as SA Warren or Mr. Sam, was born on September 29, 1930, in Vandale, Arkansas. The only child of Sammie Warren and Judy Warren Morris. He was raised by his mother, whom he adored, in Wynne, Arkansas.

At an early age, Sam gave his life to the Lord at Caldwell Baptist Church in Vandale, Arkansas and later became a member of Union Valley M.B. Church in Wynne, Arkansas.

At the tender age of 18, Sam bravely joined the United States Army to protect our country. A proud veteran of the Korean War, he loved sharing stories of his experiences serving on the front lines as a combat soldier.

Sam later made his home in Omaha, Nebraska, where he dedicated many years of his life to serving his community as a bus driver for the City of Omaha. He also had a deep passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and proudly became a member of the Los Diablos Motorcycle Club.

Though he could appear tough on the outside, those who knew Sam knew that he had an incredibly big heart. He was a true Patriarch–a man who loved deeply, protected fiercely, and became a father figure to many who still call him “Dad” to this day.

Sam was blessed with a large and loving family. He was a man who understood that family was not defined solely by blood, but by love, loyalty, presence, and the bonds built over a lifetime. He loved his family fiercely and was a fighter until his very last breath.

Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Warren Morris; His life partner of over 50 years, Bonnie McEwan; five children, Jerry Warren, Sammie Lee Warren, Larry Warren, Beverly Warren, Danny Warren, Linda Warren, and Elisa Warren; and three stepchildren, Lucinda McEwan, Billy Ray Warren Phillip, and Janittes Warren Taylor.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory a loving host of children, bonus children, grand children, and many great grand children. He also leaves behind several friends and family who have been important parts of his life.

His surviving children include: James Warren (Alexandria, VA) Brenda Shivers (Omaha, NE), Tracy Warren (Milwaukee, WI), and Josh (Tatiana) Simpson (Sergeant Bluff, IA). His surviving stepchildren include: Gary Shannon (Omaha, NE), Stephanie Meggers (Council Bluffs, IA), Christy McEwan (Omaha, NE), Denise (Jim) Ladwig (Omaha, NE), Era Bankston (Wynne, AR), and Dennis Warren (Wynne, AR).

He will also be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren; Lalita Warren, Laura Warren, LaSonda Moore, Tamara Moore, Sammy Hutchinson, Larry Hutchinson, Dana Warren, Deondrea Warren, Danny Warren Jr., Shannon Alford, Vera Buckner, Kwanza Johnson, Jarvis Reed, Gabriel Johnson, Xzayvier Simpson, Samual Warren Sidarovich Simpson, Tatiana Warren Sidarovich Simpson, Michelle (Roshod) Forster, Steven Meggers, Jacob (Haile) Meggers, Maliyah Moeller, Isaiah Moeller, Zakarian Forster and Jaylynn Meggers, along with a host of other grandchildren, great-grand children, relatives, loved ones and friends.

Sam’s life was one of service, strength, love and family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his stories, his lessons, his laughter, and the love he gave so freely will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

Rest well, Mr. Sam. Your work here is done.

A visitation will be held at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, on October 1, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
