As happened more often back then, a complication during birth left Scot with severe cerebral palsy. Now they take greater care with multiple births. He was never able to do much for himself, but he tried so hard at the things he could do. He didn’t let very much get him down.
He spent his whole life doing physical therapy and moving through the evolution of wheelchairs and other equipment. He went to school in North Dakota at the Anne Carlsen center, which is a non-profit organization providing individuals with developmental disabilities or delays with services and supports.
Dad got Scot into Quality Living shortly after they opened. QLI is a world-class Rehabilitation Center in Omaha Nebraska with unrivaled expertise. Specializing in limb loss, spinal injury, stroke and brain injury. He has lived there since the 90s.
He also had many ribbons and trophies for bowling and Special Olympics. He loved laughing. He loved special meals, such as holidays or just getting some KFC.
He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Bob.
He is survived by his twin, John and younger brother, Jim; Jim’s wife, Clarissa; their children Emma, Prudence and James Jr.; Bob’s children, Arlen and Autumn; Autumn’s child, Araia; and so many friends and staff at QLI.
Visitation will be held at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, on August 9, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
