She was born in Council Bluffs Iowa to Lionel and Frieda Knoble.
Shirley worked at Western Electric (AT&T/Lucent) for 39 years before retiring. She was an active member at the American Legion Post 1. She loved visiting with friends there and volunteering for events throughout the years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Barnes and both her parents.
She is survived by 3 children, Terri Knoble, Steve Pankers and Shawn Pankers, 2 step daughters, Catherine Spencer and Carolyn Peterson. She has several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be at Westlawn Hillcrest, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, viewing from 11 am to 1 pm, short service at gravesite at 1:15 pm and then a luncheon at the American Legion Post 1 to follow from 2 to 4 pm.
