

Vaalele Vili, Jr. was born March 16, 1960 in American Samoa to the parents of Late Reverend Vaalele Vili, Sr. and First Lady Sifia Vili. He was the second oldest of 14 siblings. Va’a attended Leone Midkiff Elementary in American Samoa. Va’a then moved to Hawai’i and continued his education at William P. Jarret Middle School in Honolulu. For his high school years he attended St. Louis High School his freshman year, Chief Sealth High School (Seattle, WA) his sophomore and junior year and then finished off at Kaimuki High School where he graduated 1978. During his high school years Va’a welcomed his two oldest son’s Richard and Brandon Tagataese. Va’a then moved to Seattle, Washington where he met his wife Maliana at First Samoan Fellowship Church. The two of them were married April 11, 1991 and shared 5 children, 2 of whom are deceased. Va’a spent 9 years working for Panasonic in Seattle, before he and his family moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1999. In Nebraska, Va’a worked for Hiland Dairy, previously Robert’s Dairy, from 2001 to his retirement in 2023. Va’a was known for his big heart and humbleness. He was a hard worker who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. A perfect day for Va’a, would be to be off of work, sitting on his porch playing music and enjoying a 12-pack of Bud Ice. Va’a made his transition to eternity on August 14th, 2024 alongside his wife, children, and best friend Michael Young. Va’a was preceded in death by his father Reverend Va’alele Vili Sr., mother Sifia Vili, sisters Luaipou Vili, Adele Moega, Anita Samifua, Lela Vili, brother Roy Vili, son Wilson Vili and Daughter Winnetta Vili. Va’a is survived by his wife, Maliana Vili, sons Sean Tagataese, Brandon Tagataese, William Vili, Rapi Sotoa, daughter Winona Vili, grandchildren Richard Tagataese Jr., Aneki Tagataese, Royal Tagataese, Regal Tagataese, Moeilupe Tagataese, Kylan Peters, Talaloa Matavao, Ramona Vili, Pelatasi Matavao Jr., great-grandchild Thaddeus Tuita-Tagataese, sisters Soona Vili, Liz Vili-Kereti, Lily Fan, Brenda Lualemaga, Logo Selesele, Sally Faumui, Oriana Banuelos and brothers James Faumui and Randall Lualemaga. A memorial service to honor the life of Va’a will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home. Address: 5701 Center St Omaha, NE 68106
