Virginia Ruth Dodson

Virginia married Mearl Dodson on April 12,1952. In 1955, they moved from Pennsylvania to Omaha where they raised 6 kids. She worked at Ashland Park School for many years where she loved helping the kids. She also worked for Bandis which was the concession stands for Aksarben where she loved the horse racing, hockey, basketball and concerts.

Virginia had many friends and family she loved. She is survived by her children, Bud Dodson (Mike Hast), Jerry Dodson, Gregory Dodson (Cecilia), Timothy Dodson (Shannon) and Diane Weihs. Virginia also had 6 siblings, Lily, Darlene, Cordella, Andrew, Dennis and William; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her best friend, Mary Ellen Flott; her husband, Mearl Dodson; her daughter, Caroline Willis and her son-in-law, Harry Willis; both parents; and brother, William Weist.

A visitation for Virginia will be held Monday, September 29, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home. Virginia will be laid to rest in Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park. There will be a luncheon following at the DAV - Disabled American Veterans Hall, 4515 F St, Omaha, Nebraska 68117.
