Born in Gastonia, NC. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Marjorie Zemalis Padgett; parents, Robert and Ethel Padgett; brother, Robert; and sisters, Ethel, Helen, and Martha. Survived by daughters, Virginia and husband David Jahraus, and Mariann Padgett; son, William Padgett II; grandchildren, Andrew Jahraus, Daniel and wife Angela Jahraus, and Jacqueline Padgett; and great grandson, Grant Jahraus. William graduated from Wake Forest University in 1944 and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Clinical Pathology from Temple University in 1949. He practiced Clinical Pathology for 20 years, when he became a Professor of Medical Technology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for the next 15 years, retiring in 1982. Through the years he sang in several church choirs, and in retirement, with the Lakeside Village Choir. He was an active member in the Lakeside Scholarship Committee, and the Lakeside Residents Advisory Council.
MEMORIAL SERVICE 1pm Thursday, February 27, at Immanuel Lakeside Village. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to the Immanuel Lakeside Village Scholarship Fund.
