He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on February 18 1930, the son of James and Angelina (Macaluso) Costanza. He married Jean Larsen on December 30, 1950 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Al served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War and was discharged as a Lance Corporal.
He was a graduate of RCA Institute in NYC and worked as a chemical engineer for GAF in Linden, New Jersey.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the VFW Post 487 in Davenport, the AARP, and the Elm Park Exercise Club.
He enjoyed Eastern Travel Bus trips and his friends at the Peaceful Flats Social Club where he played cards and called Bingo .
He is survived by his wife, Jean Costanza of Oneonta; his children Al Costanza of Oneonta, James Costanza of Brownsboro, TX, Louis Costanza and his wife, Audrey of Davenport; his sisters, Vinnie Hodges of South Plainfield, NJ, and Connie Randazza of New Hampshire.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Frank, Louis, Joseph, Sebastian, James, Jr.; his sisters Mary Witkus, Eda Elias, Elizabeth Preston and Carmella Costanza, and Angie Iannacone.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta with the Rev. Scott VanDerveer, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Davenport Cemetery immediately following the mass.
There will be no calling hours.
