In her teenage years, Alice moved to the Schenevus area and was primarily an Otsego County resident thereafter (Hartwick and Milford).
Alice was married to her life-long love, Donald Pier Sr. for nearly 60 years until his passing in 2008.
She is survived by sons, Don Jr. (Christine), David, Dwight (Eileen), and daughter Denise (Lew); grandchildren Don III, Shawn, Bethany, Katrina, Rachel, David, Trevor and Michelle; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Alice was a devoted wife and mother and while a homemaker for many years, was also an employee of Bassett Hospital and a successful liquor and wine retailer for some 20 years.
A short poem describes the sentiments of her family:
A wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother too-
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight-
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
In your heart you were always kind-
A heart like that is hard to find.
For all of us you gave your best-
Now it is time for you to rest.
Your love in our hearts will eternally keep-
And a treasure of memories from which to reap.
