

He was born March 21, 1931 in Amsterdam the son of the late Joseph and Theresa Scaccia.
On October 24, 1953 Anthony married Jean Clarke in Oneonta.
Jean predeceased him on August 06, 2010.
Anthony began his teaching career at Sidney Central School and then at Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta and finally retiring from SUNY Delhi as Vice President of Academic Affairs. Not afraid of work, Anthony often had two jobs at a time. He also helped people with their taxes. When Jean became ill, he cared for her.
Anthony was a baseball pitcher and was known for his knuckle ball. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, the Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Celtics.

Anthony is survived by his two sons, David Scaccia and Dale and Sandra Scaccia; son-in-law, Jeffrey McDaniels; five grandchildren, Bryan Squaires, Toni-Lee and Hank Himmanen, Theresa Rose McDaniels, Alisha Scaccia and Brian Hallenbeck and CaseyJo and Joseph Lawyer; four great grandchildren, Kaleb Squires, Morgan Hallenbeck, Zeke Lawyer and Dominic Himmanen; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane T. McDaniels; siblings, John Petrone, Rocco Petrone, Dominic Petrone and Pauline Scaccia.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Grummons-Bookhout-Bennett Funerals & Cremations, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta with the Rev. Stephen D. Fournier officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.
