Beverley J. Newkirk

Born February 12th, 1940, to Mary & Emory Sawyer of Oneonta. Beverly graduated from Oneonta High School, class of 1958.

After graduation, she went on to attend Albany Business College and graduated with her associates degree. Beverley worked for several banks throughout her life; she also worked at Coke a Cola for a short while before returning to banking. Beverley retired from Sidney Federal Credit Union where she made some tremendously close friends.

Beverley enjoyed watching all sports on TV and was a big fan of UConn. Women’s basketball. Her greatest joys were attending her grandchildren’s & great grandchildren’s school & sporting events.

Beverley is survived by her son Timothy Faulkner (Rachel Lutz Jessup) of Oneonta; sister, Judith (Sawyer) Baxter, of Delaware; sister-in-law, Jean (Whiteman) Sawyer, of Oneonta; granddaughters, Jessica (Aaron) Stahl, of Oneonta, Jena Parker (Ryan Rowe) of Davenport, Dana Stepp (Avery Kenyon) of Otego; great grandchildren, Hannah Faulkner (Corey Roseboom) of Schenevus, Mason & Logan Stahl of Oneonta, Ellie, Addison & Madison Kaufman of Davenport; great grandson, Grayson Roseboom of Schenevus; and son-in-law Larry Stepp of Otego; and many nieces and nephews.

Beverley was predeceased by her mother, Mary (Taylor) Sawyer of Oneonta; father, Emory Sawyer of Oneonta; husband, John Newkirk of Oneonta; daughter, Monica (Newkirk) Stepp of Otego; son, James N Faulkner III, of Camden; brother, James Sawyer of Oneonta; brother-in-law James Baxter of Delaware; and special friend Alvin Davis of Davenport.

Beverley will be missed by many.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, May 18th, 2026, at 12:00pm in Oneonta Plains Cemetery with family and close friends.
