She is a Christian. You will never meet a more systematically organized person. She was dedicated to her career, especially to the many years when she worked as the Office Manager for John Vincent Holden, Driller/Operator in Houston, Texas. When she returned to Oneonta just before the millennium she joined Rehabilitation Support Services where she worked until her retirement in 2017.
She loved her family, enjoyed working in the garden with them. She also enjoyed working out with her many friends at the Y. One of the great joys of her life was taking walks with her husband and with her great friend, Margot, with whom she also enjoyed many hours doing Callanetics.
Her parents were Duane Matthews and Jean (Thomas) Matthews both of whom predeceased her. She was greatly loved by her husband, Ed, who survives her. She is also survived by her son, Christopher Anecelle (Stephanie Zhang), who loved her dearly, sisters Debby Matthews of Lafayette, Louisiana and Leanne Bookin of Otego, nephew Matthew Bookin, stepdaughter, Elizabeth Cayton (Bobbie), stepson, Cary, grandchildren, Linden, Lucas, and Coleman, Taylor Cayton and Jordan Cayton.
Carole's family will host a celebration of her life Saturday, July 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m in the back garden of her home, 21 Spruce Street, Oneonta. Carole’s friends are invited to share a memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
