
He was born on December 28, 1953 in Oneonta, the son of Melvin R. and Dorothy (Hughes) Hasenkamp.
Kip owned and operated his own repair shop for many years, Kip’s Garage, in Portlandville.
He was a worker from a very young age, going to work with his dad or on the farm with his uncle. Whether he was fixing cars or working on the farm, he was happiest tinkering on a vehicle or alongside his dad and later his wife on the beef farm.
Kip enjoyed spending time with all his family. He was a true friend and a nice person to all he knew. He was also a life-long Yankee fan.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane of Cooperstown; his sister, Doreen E. Hasenkamp of Portlandville; his sister, MaryAnn and Robert McGonigal, and nephews Tyler and Kyle of Kendall, NY; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins in NY and Nebraska.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Debbie and Terry Lum of Unadilla and nieces Amber Lum and Brianne Hunsucker; and sister-in- law, Darlene and John Kessler of Oneonta, and nieces Sheylyn and Taylor Kessler.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Melvin R. Hasenkamp, Jr.
A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Susquehanna SPCA, 5082-5088, NY-28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
