Constance Marie Allen

passed away on August 30, 2014. She was the daughter of Thomas and

Rachel Hartley of Hamden, Connecticut. Connie was married to Daniel Allen, a

Hartwick College professor, for 68 years until his death in 2008.

Connie was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Allen, her son, Matthew Allen and her brother Charles Hartley.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Jennifer Russell; two great

grandsons, Jacob and Andrew; as well as her daughter-in-law, Ellen Allen;

her nephew, David Hartley; and niece, Susan Hartley.

Connie studied at the Yale School of Music and later in life completed her

degree at Hartwick College. She was very active in Hartwick College

community life. She was an accomplished pianist and gave piano lessons

in her home for many years. She and her husband traveled extensively

through the United States, Europe and Russia.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care and the many caregivers who assisted Connie in her last years of life.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 21st at 2:30 pm at the

Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, New York, the Reverend Mark Montfort officiating.
