He was born July 2, 1946 the son of Clifford and Marion Craven.
On December 11, 1992, Dean married Angela Ploutz in Oneonta. Angela predeceased him on July 27, 2010.
Dean is survived by his sisters, Marion (Midge) Payne, Dallas, TX, Carolyn and David Hersh, Queensbury, NY and Nancy and Ron Bullock, Collinsville, TX; sisters-in-law, Pam and Bruce Amadon, Davenport Center, NY, Marie Benedict, West Oneonta, NY; and brother-in-law, Fred and Shari Ploutz, Oneonta, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Connie Craven, brothers-in-law, David Payne and Olin Benedict.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 in the Grummons-Bookhout-Bennett Funerals & Cremations, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery will be held at a later date.
