
He was born April 22, 1919 in Berwick, PA the son of the late Emedio and Angelina (DeRazio) “DeIoannon” Dewan. He married Louise Shaver on April 10, 1971, and she died on February 9, 2009.
Dominic served his country with the US Army in World War 2, and participated in the first wave of operations during the invasion of Normandy. He received several decorations and citations, including the Bronze Star Medal, and the NY State Conspicuous Service Cross.
For a period of 30 years, prior to his retirement, he worked as a car repairman for the D&H RR.
Dominic was a member of St. Mary’s Church. He especially loved gardening and landscaping. He loved to putter around his yard.
Dominic is survived by his daughter, Donna K. Dewan and her husband, Greg Baldinger of Milford; his step-daughters, Donna Baniewicz and her husband, Frank of Liverpool, NY and Barbara Robbins and her husband, Tom of Dade City, FL; his step-sons, David Sweet of Owego, NY and Daniel Dana of Wells Bridge, NY.
He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Louise; his brother, Carmen; his sister, MaryAnn and his step-grandson, Michael Baniewicz.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St. with the Rev Bernard Ampong, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons. There will be no calling hours.
