Dorothy A. Bloodnick

Dorothy was born on January 23, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late William and Anna (Schaeffer) Barratt. She married Martin J. Bloodnick on October 8, 1950 in Christ the King Catholic Church.

Dorothy was a member and Eucharist Minister at St. Mary’s Church in Oneonta. She was president of the Oneonta Young at Heart organization, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lindenhurst Fire Department, a member of the Rosary Society at several churches, and helped build the St. Lawrence Church in DeRuyter, NY. She also did volunteer work at A.O. Fox Hospital.

She loved to read, go to garage sales, watching old movies and Jeopardy and sewing.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Martin J. Bloodnick of Laurens; her 5 children, Martin Bloodnick and wife, Susie of West Babylon, Karen McGinty and husband, Kevin of Sayville, Denise Weber and husband, William of Schnevus, Edward Bloodnick and wife, Mary of Old Zionsville, PA and Brian Bloodnick and wife, Joellen of Ft. Edward.

She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Christina, Martin, Melissa, William, Benjamin, John, Andrew, Amy and Stephen; her 4 great grandchildren, Gianna, McKayla, Autumn and Jayden; her brother, John Barratt of Merrick and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, William and Edward Barratt and her sister, Eleanor Barratt.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:15 am on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta with Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at 2 pm at the Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta at which time the family will be in attendance.
