OBITUARY

Dorothy L. Lynch

April 30, 1930July 4, 2019

Dorothy (Dottie) Lucille Lynch born April 30, 1930 in Manhattan passed away peacefully on July 4, 2019 with family members by her side. She is predeceased by parents Peter and Sylvia Devlin; siblings Peter (Kathy) Devlin, Arthur (Barbara) Devlin, Joan (Thomas) Jedlicka. Survived by brother Robert (Linda) Devlin; sons James (Emilienne) Lynch, Timothy Lynch and Roger (Michelle) Lynch; grandchildren Christine Rodriguez, Michael Lynch, Helen (Jason) Young, Nicole (Tyler) Huyck and Daniel (Sarah) Lynch and 16 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and many others who called her “Grandma”.

Since moving to Treadwell in 1976, she was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, an active member of the Treadwell Fire Department, and attended the Treadwell Methodist Church. She retired from the Oneonta Price Chopper Pharmacy after 25 years.

She was known as the family matriarch who hosted Christmas Eve every year for the family which was riddled with unmarked presents and an endless supply of bread. Every night always ended with Grandma in her chair doing her pin curls watching David Letterman. She always remembered everyone’s birthday and having her family together was her happily ever after. She was very proud of the number of grandchildren and great grandchildren she had and would often say “this is all because of me”.

A memorial service will be held at the Treadwell United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Treadwell Fire Department or Treadwell United Methodist Church.

Online condolences to the family can be made at www.grummonsfuneralhome.com.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

I did not know Dorothy, that beautiful lady that my US family loved so much; but I share their feelings towards her... I would have loved to have met her once at least... I’ll Remember the soft smile that I could see on the photos on Facebook and that special love the family expressed her ... I join you all in your pain... so long dear Dorothy...
