Edythe G. Trachta

She was born on May 5, 1928 in Staten Island, the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Elsie M. (Grahl) Devlin.

Edythe was raised in Port Richmond on Staten Island and attended St. Peter’s High School for Girls. She graduated in 1946. On February 7, 1948, she married Charles J. Trachta. They raised their children in Westerleigh, Staten Island. They moved to Franklin, NY in September 1985 after building their home.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Oneonta. Charles and Edythe enjoyed square dancing and belonged to the Covered Bridge Squares in Unadilla. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and crafting. Above all else, Edythe enjoyed spending time with her husband Charles.

Edythe is survived by her children, Thomas M. Trachta (Jane) of Palmerton, PA, James F. Trachta (Gina) of Daytona Beach, FL, Charles J. Trachta, Jr. of Virginia, and Edythe G Trachta of Texas; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Charles who predeceased her on January 10, 2020, she was also predeceased by her parents; her brother and sister in law, Carlton and Shirley Devlin; her sister and brother in law, Lorraine and Robert Gilmartin; her sister, Jeanann Stahlnecker; and her brother in law, John Trachta.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 5-7 PM at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street Oneonta.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta with Rev. Christopher Welch, officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
