Elena Marie Lopez, lovingly known as Ellie, was born on June 25, 2026, in Cooperstown, New York, to her parents, Maya Cookinham and Alexander Lopez. On August 17, 2026, Ellie passed away peacefully, leaving behind a family who loved her more than words can express.
From the moment Ellie was born, she was surrounded by love. Even though her time with her family was far too short, she made an impact that will never be forgotten. She was their precious baby girl, deeply cherished by her parents and her brother Alexander Jr. She brought a kind of love into their lives that can never be replaced.
One of the memories her family will hold closest to their hearts is the sweet smile Ellie would give after being fed. When her little belly was full and she was “milk drunk”, she would settle into that peaceful, content little smile that everyone loved so much. It was one of those simple moments that made being with Ellie so special, and it is a memory her family will carry with them always.
Ellie was loved by her grandmothers, Meg Sylvester and Shannon Oski, along with her many other grandparents who cherished her. She was also deeply loved by her aunts and uncles, Heather Cottone, Destini Juhl and Nathaniel Lopez, Evelyn Ruiz and Jermaine Weir, Andy and Elicia Ely-Philhower, Julianna Pidgeon and Adrian Beares, and by all of her cousins.
Ellie was preceded in her journey by her beloved brother, Matthias Lopez. Although they never had the chance to grow up together here, her family finds comfort in imagining the two of them together, playing together and watching over each other.
Ellie may have been small, but the love she brought into this world was anything but. She had a way of making every moment with her feel important, whether she was being held close, being fed, or giving that sweet little smile after being fed. She gave her family a love they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Ellie’s life was short, but the place she made in the hearts of her family is permanent. Her story will continue through the people who loved her, the memories they hold close, and the love they will always have for their sweet baby girl.
