Francis V. Montgomery

Born on October 31, 1938 in Oneonta. He was the son of the late Vernard and Juanita Montgomery.

He married the love of his life, Joyce (Briggs) on February 26th 1966 and missed her dearly after her passing in 2016.

Following graduation Frank entered the US Army where he served for two years before being honorably discharged.

Frank worked as a supervisor in the Shipping and Receiving department at Astrocom Electronics for many years.

He was an active member of the West Davenport Methodist Church with many advisory roles. He was a member of the Pindars Corners Fire Department for 50+ years serving for many of them on the board. He was a member of the Davenport Historical Society and enjoyed collecting antique post cards from the area.

Frank was most proud of the fact that he built his own home and camp where he shared his love of fishing with family members, many for the first time. He was an avid bowler winning many trophies.

Frank is survived by his children, Donna (John) Moore of Oneonta and Cheryl (Gary) Shove of Oneonta; grandchildren, Nathan, Emily and Elizabeth; a brother, Clarence “Pete” (Alice) Montgomery of Davenport; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce, brother, Tom and sister, Vernadine.

Calling hours will be on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Pindars Corners Fire Department, State Highway 23 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm at the West Davenport Methodist Church with burial immediately following in the Charlotte Valley Cemetery, West Davenport.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pindars Corners Fire Department.
