George Anthony Olivares

George A Olivares, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on August 19, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 27, 1960 in New Orleans Louisiana to Carlos and Graciela Olivares. George enjoyed sharing the local flavor of his hometown with his friends and family, often inviting them to revel in Mardi Gras fun and sharing institutions like Pat O’Brien’s. He was deeply proud of his family heritage and history.

George will be remembered by his family as a loving father and Pop Pop, who he built his life around his family. Having lived in Louisiana, Texas, and New York, he and his loving wife Cheryl Olivares recently moved to Rotterdam NY to be closer to their children and two beautiful granddaughters, Ellie Mae and Maddie Briseno, in who he found immense joy.

Throughout his life, George had a passion for aircraft, which he inherited from his father Carlos. George was a proud US Air Force veteran who maintained strong friendships with his brother-in-arms until his passing. While enlisted and after his discharge, he built a career as an airline mechanic and a maintenance technician. He passed much of his mechanical knowledge and skill on to his children, of whom he was incredibly proud.

Along with his wife and granddaughters, he is survived by his four children, Sabrina Olivares of Spokane Valley, Wa, Anthony (Lauren) Olivares of Troy Ny, Alexander (Tara Doherty) Olivares of Savannah Ga, Adam (Jordan) Briseno of Scotia Ny, and his step-daughter Christina (Ray) Cloutier and her family. George will be greatly missed by his brothers Carlos Olivares and Donald (Amy) Olivares, his sister Sheila (David) Beyer, his nieces, nephews and many long time friends. George will be reunited in Heaven with his beloved parents and his brother Joaquin Olivares.

A private memorial service to honor George’s life will be held at a later date. George’s family would like to share their deep gratitude for the doctors, nurses and staff at Albany Medical Center and the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.
