She was born on April 5, 1922 in New York City, the daughter of Nathan and Lydia (Heisman) Pincus. She married Daniel Segal on September 26, 1942.
Helaine and Dan moved to Oneonta in 1952 to run her family business, Mathews Clothing, and raise their family.
Helaine loved Oneonta and always helped out where needed. She loved working in her gardens, planting seeds in the ground, and planting “seeds” for all of us to think about.
She could usually be found walking to or at one of her favorite places: Huntington Memorial Library, Oneonta Family YMCA or Temple Beth El, to any of which donations in her memory will be greatly appreciated.
Survivors include daughters, Nan Myer (Stephen) of Mission Viejo, CA; Shoshana Shuval of Portland, Oregon; and son, Howard Segal (Deb) of Oneonta; a sister, Ina Goldstein; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces.
Special thanks to all of Mom's caregivers who helped to keep her in the home that she loved.
Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home of Oneonta, NY.
