There are a certain people that are ALWAYS THERE. Herb was at the top of that list. As organizers of the Pit Run in Oneonta, we turned to the East Meredith fire department for help with tents at our event. Every year they were there and it was an item we didn’t have to think twice about, when contacting Briggsy regarding if he needed help with the tents his response was, “nope, nope I got Herby all lined up.” Work hard and help others and if no one notices who did the work the better, that was Herb and whenever he will be thought of, it will be how much he helped others. Always remember.

I remember as I little kid I was about 5 years old and Herbie was about 13. I got on the school bus and Herbie asking me to sit with him and he told all the other the big kids I was his friend. Thank you, Herbie for being a friend to me when I needed one. I will always remember you and be thankful.

I remember when he would always call me up and sometimes I would never answer he would always leave the best voicemails in my mail box, it would make my day, then I would call him back and he would always say some smart thing. I could go on for days about the memories that we had it truly breaks my heart. He was the best grandfather a kid could ask for, he taught me how to do everything I know today I miss you grandpa, your always gonna be in my heart.

I will never forget all my birthday parties you came to. I will never forget you telling me "well hello there Jetterbug" every time you would see me. I will never forget showing you and my dad my new dresses and you telling me how I looked like a real lady. I will never forget the love you showed friends and family. I will never forget the way you spoke with no filter what's so ever. You were an amazing father, uncle, brother, and friend. You will be greatly missed by all. Rest easy uncle Herby, we'll all see you again another day.
