Jacqueline M. Schaaf, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 29, 2026. She will be remembered with deep respect, enduring affection, and profound gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on April 4, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, Jacqueline was the daughter of John and Josephine (Sullivan) Fogarty.
On June 25, 1983, she married the love of her life and soulmate, Kenneth G. Schaaf, in the Bronx. Together they built a life rooted in love, devotion, and family. They remained in the Bronx until 1988, when they moved their family upstate, where they continued to create a home filled with warmth and laughter.
Throughout her life, Jacqueline found joy and fulfillment in pursuits that reflected her thoughtful and creative spirit. She was an avid gardener, a devoted reader, a talented pianist, and a prolific writer. Each of these passions reflected the care, curiosity, and attention she brought to the world around her.
Jacqueline was the embodiment of generosity. She would readily give her last dollar—or even the clothes off her back—to someone in need. Her remarkable capacity for compassion, understanding, and unconditional love touched countless lives. She believed every person deserved to be heard and understood, and she knew that sometimes the greatest gift one can offer is simply being present. A steadfast advocate for those who could not advocate for themselves, Jacqueline never hesitated to stand up for what was right and just. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering sense of fairness left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Above all else, Jacqueline’s greatest joy was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with them and held those memories close to her heart. They were a source of immense pride, happiness, and love throughout her life.
Jacqueline is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Kenneth; her four children, Jennifer and Rich, Kerry, John and Laura, and William and Kristin; her cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Riley, Jacob, and Paisley; her brothers, Tommy and Joey; her sisters, Barbara and Jo-Ellen; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Josephine; her brother, Billy; her sister, Harriett; her nephew, Kevin; and her nieces, Theresa and Elizabeth.
Jacqueline’s legacy of love, generosity, courage, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
