James L. Browning, 64, of Walton passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 20, 1953 in Oneonta the son of the late Leon Browning and Bertha (McAdams) Browning Dean. For many years, James was a farmer and also a truck driver for H.J. Berry Stone and Gravel in Milford. On May 22, 1977, James married Ruth Williams in Bloomingburg, NY. He enjoyed being in the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or working on cars. He also liked buying tools. But most of all, James was a family man. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. James is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Browning, Walton; children, Donna Browning, Oneonta, BillyJoe Browning (Chris Erickson), Oneonta and William Browning (LeAnne), Walton; step daughter, Inez Williams, Texas; grandchildren, Dominque Jackman, Selena Torres, Madison Henderson, Dominic Poirier, Austin Smith, Blaike Knapp, Christopher Erickson, Jr., Gemma Erickson, William Browning, Jr., and Kori Browning; great grandson, Cameron M. Torres; brother, Orville Dean, Port Jervis; special friends, Harold Berry and Bill Hotaling; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Roger Dean. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Steve Estes officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Maryland Cemetery, Maryland.
