James passed away at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital on January 10, 2024 after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons Disease and Dementia.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Varin) Simonds the love of his life and soul mate; his daughter, Melissa Chandran (Jason Pendelton); his son, Matthew Simonds; his grandchildren, Ethan Chandran and Lillian Pendelton who he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Damon, Jr. (Patricia) Simonds, Donald Simonds, David (Jennie) Simonds, Betty (Tom) Eggleston, Shirley Fassett-Snyder and Maria Brashear; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
James grew up in Exeter Center on their small family farm. He loved animals, he liked to cook and bake cookies (molasses and porcupine cookies). He loved his family and spent quality time outside gardening, planting marigold flowers, hiking up on Angel Hill near Exeter Center with his wife, Cynthia and children. He also like woodworking and making Winnie the Pooh cut outs and painting them with his daughter, Melissa. He enjoyed going to the gun club for target shooting with his son, Matthew. Grandpa would go on walks and bike rides, play cards and checkers with his grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all.
