Mr. & Mrs. France:
I am sorry for your loss. I read your memories and it brought tears to my eyes. Your words were full of passion and much love for Jeremy. I lost my son Patrick 3 years ago and I so feel your pain. My heart aches for you. No one can understand the loss of a child unless they have experienced it. There are no words that can stop the heart from hurting. I have been told that the pain will ease with time but it hasn't. I cry each day for my son as I know you must. Patrick was killed in action. He served in Afghanistan. I am very proud of Patrick as I know you are very proud of your own son Jeremy. I relive my son's passing when I read someone so young has passed because they never have lived their lives. I think each day what Patrick would have achieved if he was alive. He was a very smart person, full of life, witty, humorous, had a smile that would brighten the room. 

My prayers are with you. 

I pray that God gives you comfort and support as you grieve your loss of your beloved son, Jeremy.

I can remember every Christmas Eve when Jeremy and Tim would take over my Nintendo laughing and just having fun trying to out do each other, while their parents were downstairs having the same fun in adult form.  

Just recently a particular poem has helped me get through times like this, It's called Afterglow.

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. 
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done. 

You all are in my thoughts and my love is with you through this difficult time.  But the times of laughter and just good fun that you remember will pull you through.

My Grandmother once told me that God only picks the flowers in bloom for heaven.We know that Jeremy is now up in heaven with all the other beautiful flowers that are in bloom. Our love and prayers are with you all.

Jeremy: Memories from Dad.

• With all that has happened over the last few years, it's very easy to forget the “good old times”
• First 2/3 of your life you were a happy kid. 
• 1st trip to Disney-jungle ride-asked when are we going to get to Disney, since you hadn't seen the castle yet.
• You would spend hours upon hours working on skateboard tricks
• You were very cautious and would study things and work up to doing bigger tricks on a skate board. Although you would eventually get a lot braver as shown by jumping off the garage roof into the swimming pool!
• Wouldn't let moose & Mick drive their boat, “The Rocket” very fast.
• Worked really hard in junior high to make the Snowboard team.
• I taught you how to play guitar and you worked at it so hard that that you blew by me skill-wise in a year.
• You always looked up to your brother, even when he broke a window and then handed you the slingshot to finally use.
• You and your dog Alex both had casts on at the same time for broken arm/paw. EXCEPT you sawed yours off and hid it under the back steps that helped Mom coin the phrase “Dumb A**” which was heard by many of the neighbors.
• I really enjoyed the many concerts we went to. Several of them with a lot of your friends. I will admit, sitting in the bleachers watching you guys in the mosh pit, scared the crap out of me. 
• Then the demons started to creep in. School and life seemed to become a struggle for you. You were suffering and turned to drugs and alcohol as a relief.
• You, Mom and I fought through some very difficult times the last few years-some that many people could not imagine. I hope you know that through it all, our love for you has never wavered.
• I knew when you lost the desire/will to do the things you loved the most: playing guitar, snowboarding ,etc that you had to  be really hurting
• A few days ago Jeremy shared with me how in the Correctional Facility he didn't have any worries or pressure and he had made plans for when he got out but none of it was working out.
• Many of you may have looked down on Jeremy for his actions and the toll it was taking on loved ones, but you need to understand that he was a very troubled young man. 
• I am so very sorry that we were not able to help you out of it or that you couldn't do it yourself. 
• I pray now that the Lord has relieved you of your pain and let you be at peace.

Jeremy: Memories from Tim.

• I always admired how passionate and dedicated you were to almost every interest you had.  When you got your first skateboard, you were in the driveway and garage every single night practicing, taking it apart, putting it back together, and building ramps.
• You applied the same passion to music, first learning the guitar, then the drums, and anything else that caught your eye.
• I remember chasing you through the halls in high school, trying to give you a big hug to embarrass you in front of your friends.
• No matter how long we went without seeing each other or talking, as soon as we were together again it was like no time had passed at all.  I would walk in and we would immediately start talking about the new Guitar Hero, or season of The Office, without skipping a beat.
• Some of my favorite times were sitting at the kitchen table for dinner, joking around back and forth and teaching Mom the wrong meanings to internet lingo.
• It was always fun getting calls and texts from you at random times throughout the day and night, asking me if I could come over and beat a game boss or level you were stuck on.
• How much fun we had the night we were playing pool at Grandma France's house, and found the Ice Crushing Machine, and then proceeded to sit in front of the deep freezer for two hours waiting for a cup of water to freeze so we could crush it.
• I wish we had talked more, it seems like we made a lot of the same mistakes, but dealt with them in different ways.  I always told some of my friends who had close relationships with their brother, how envious I was of them.  I should have tried harder.
• I kept all the letters you wrote to Ryan and I while you were away, and it breaks my heart that he'll never get to know his uncle first hand. Though he'll grow up knowing his Uncle Jeremy loved him very much.

Jeremy: Memories from Mom

• Your creative drawings, writings and acting ability. I'll never forget you as the Sheriff of Nottingham in those red long johns and you and PJ getting dressed up and putting on impromptu plays. We called you “Salt & Pepper”.
• Driving you, Matt and Evan around NYS to Skate parks, learning about kick flips, backside alleys and how to put on grip tape.
• How many times did I tell you not to jump off the front steps with your skateboard and then being proud when you “landed it”.
• Taking up skiing again so you could learn to snowboard. Of course you quickly left me behind and I'm sure I embarrassed you. But the times we spent at Greek Peak and Scotch Valley was priceless.
• Being your groupie and transporting band equipment all over town for your “gigs”. One time we dragged equipment through a foot of snow so you guys could practice. I think Jeff's Dad even shot snow on us.
• The way you and Tim would try to out-joke one another. Of course the favorite target was your Mom…and yes, I can touch the ceiling.
• Watching you play with Ryan with the horse puppet that you and Tim had as kids.
• Your smile, that no matter how mad I was at you, melted my heart.
• Opening your locker at school to get your homework with the principal to discover it jammed full of soda bottles because you were trying to break a Guinness world record. I'll never forget Mrs. Forgiano's “Oh My”.
• How you were my fashion advisor. I could always ask you to tell me if something looked ok for a particular expression. I hope you always told the truth.
• How much you and Tim embraced our Family traditions. You said it wasn't Summer until we went to Gramma's camp.
• The enjoyment of creating our vegetable garden together.
• We thank you for bringing Samantha into our lives. I loved the sound of you two laughing during a tickle fight or while watching a movie. She was a ray of sunshine during our trips to visit you in Pennsylvania and Ithaca. We have grown to love her as our daughter.
• Knowing that whatever happened, good or bad, you were a kind , sensitive soul who loved his family.

    I'll remember all the great times we had with family gatherings, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Birthday party's.  Going skiing at Greek Peak, Labrador, and when we went to Whiteface, took Aunt Deb all the way up to the top of the mountain for the first run of the day.  Sleeping in your camper at my house when Nick, and Brandon came over for soccer camp and the camp outs we used to have at Nana and Papa's.  The time you had the garage sale at your house, Jeremy, Brian and I were putting up signs.  We had to go to the dollar store to pick up something and Jeremy had the idea to buy these porcelain people and re-sell them at our sale and we made money off of it.  I appreciated the time Jeremy spent trying to teach me how to play the guitar even though I didn't stick with it.   
    I'm sorry that I was not able to attend the calling hours and funeral but you have been in my thoughts throughout these past days.

im sorry for you loss he was a good young man

I didn't know Jeremy very well or very long, but for the short amount of time I spent with him left an imprint on my life forever.  Whether it was swimming in his pool, having bonfires, watching movies, or playing video games Jeremy knew how to bring life and happiness to those around him.  His parents should be proud for having a kid that was loved by SO many.  It breaks my heart that he had to leave the way he did, but he will live on with all of us every day. We are overwhelmed with sadness at the loss of Jeremy. I have very few memories of our time in New York that do not include Jeremy. He was a good friend to Chris (Criss) and I will never forget his open heart and the friendship between him and Chris. I have countless photos of them playing music together and his beautiful smile and the laughter that filled my house when he was around. We were blessed to have known him and Chris is devastated at the loss of his friend even though they hadn't seen each other or spoken in a while. You all are in our thoughts and our prayers.

I have many fond memories of Jeremy as third grader in my class. He was smart and wise beyond his years with a fun and mischievous sense of humor! I'm glad he and my son Dylan were able to share their passion for music. May God give you strength...I wish you only happy memories.

Words will never ever be enough do describe how amazing your son is. I feel ridiculous for even trying to do it. He is one of my best friends and he means the world to me.
