Joan Couse

Joan Couse, 77, of Oneonta, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 11, 2021 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital. She was born March 17, 1944, in Oneonta, NY, the daughter of the late Donald and Marion (Silvernail) MacPherson. In 2006, Joan married Robert Couse and they enjoyed many years together. Joan was an avid bird watcher and always had quite an array of birds at her feeders, including an eagle that would visit on occasion. She also loved to bake especially pies and chocolate chip cookies and was an excellent cook as well. Joan and Bob also belonged to the 6th Ward Athletic Club. She is survived by her loving husband Robert Couse of Oneonta; her children, Jamie Cuozzo of Otego, Bryan (Bonnie) Cuozzo of Morris, Tony (Theresa) Cuozzo of Otego, Brenda Thayer and (Brian Davis) of Unadilla, and Matt (Lori) Mannina of Otego, as well as Jennifer (Michael) Green of Davenport and Robert (Bobbie) Couse of Mt. Upton; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Joan is also survived by her brother Gary (Carol) MacPherson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Reginald and Mark MacPherson as well as her grandson David G. Allen. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, NY from 5 -7 PM at which time the family will be in attendance. Memorial Contributions, in Joan’s memory, may be made to the Laurens Fire & EMS District, 34 Main Street, Laurens, NY 13796

Joan was a great lady, with great kids. I remember having water fights (with hoses) from each side of the property line on River St., Otego. Others have fences!
