Leona A. “Nonie” Addington, 60, passed away, peacefully, in her Cook Street Home, Tuesday, April 28, 2020, with loved ones present.

She was born December 17, 1959, in Utica, the daughter of the Walter T. and Beatrice (Worlock) Addington. Leona lived in Sauquoit for a period of time before moving to Hartwick to be with her sister Claudia for many years before deciding she wanted to be more independent and moved to her Walnut Street home in Oneonta and then to her Cook Street home in Worcester. Leona held several jobs in the local area working on the SUNY Campus in the coffee shops and at Taylor’s Store in Colliersville. Leona could often be found volunteering in the local area especially during First Night festivities in Oneonta. She loved to bowl and belonged to leagues throughout the years. Singing and dancing as well as traveling were among her favorite activities. Leona lived a very happy life and lived it to the fullest. Leona was a longtime resident of Springbrook and enjoyed many functions with her many friends. The family would like to acknowledge her house staff at Walnut Street and Cook Street along with her housemates and very special housemates Vinny Deforest & Pumpkin.

She is survived by her brother Howard (Sue) Addington, her sisters Irene (Phil) Davis, Suzy (Don) Kenyon, and Claudia (Rod) McLean; sister-in-law, Linda Addington and many special nieces & nephews especially Dan McLean and Nicole Bello.

Leona was predeceased by her parents as well as her oldest brother Russell.

The family would like to thank Springbrook and Helios Care for their care and support as well as those who touched Leona’s life.

Oh my how old 127 is going to miss our Tuesday's coffee tea time with her. Leona could have 3 sweaters/cardigans on while undoing her laces and still be heading to get a glass of water . She has the spirit to brighten the room full of hugs and "Oh I know you." and even if she didn't know that person they are in for the best intro of Miss Leona Addington. They will always remember her genuine love she shared with everyone she knew.
Gone But NEVER Forgotten,
Much love till next time Leona fly high beautiful.

I’ve known Noni since the day she was born. Loved her and remember how she use to see Jim’s car turn onto our street she would be at my house to greet Jim with her smile and hugs. He loved it still remembers and often thought of her as I did. Glad you sent me the pictures so I have them to look at. God bless her.

Leona was a very special person to me. My pumpkin and coffee drinking partner. We loved to sit on the porch when it was nice and just sip our coffee and enjoy life. She was a great dance partner as well, boogieing down at every dance we could make it to. Fly high my pumpkin and drink that perfect cup of coffee. Until we meet again.
