Linda M. Evanczyk

Linda was born on September 22, 1946 in Roachville, New Brunswick, Canada to Gerald and Margaret Connell.

She is a graduate of St. John General Hospital School of Nursing and in 1968 began working at the Medical College of Virginia as head nurse of OB/GYN Emergency Room where she met Dr. Bryan Evanczyk. They were married in 1969. She worked as a nurse for several years, moved to Oneonta, NY with her family in 1985 and focused all efforts locally toward raising money and fund raising for Helios Hospice Care and A.O. Fox Hospital.

Linda stayed active in the community and relentlessly solicited local businesses with her fundraising efforts. She was known for her dogged and steadfast commitment to community, leading by example and never taking "no" for an answer.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Bryan S. Evanczyk, son Ryan Evanczyk and sister Peggy Landry of Cumberland Bay, NB Canada. Those wishing to honor her memory are invited to make a donation to Helios Care, https://helioscare.org/donate/ in lieu of flowers.
