She was born July 4, 1928 in Laurens, the daughter of the late Robert and Annette (Blanchard) Gardner.
On July 4, 1945 Lois married Hubert H. Holden in West Oneonta. Hubert predeceased her on April 23, 2002.
For several years, Lois was a secretary in the burner department at the Oneonta Oil and Fuel Co.
She enjoyed camping at Meadow-Vale Campground, knitting, crocheting and doing jigsaw puzzles. But most of all, Lois loved spending time with her great-granddaughter, Meghan.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Harrington of Oneonta; her grandchildren, Christine Ahearn (Terri Kalloch) of Arizona, Donald (Ann) Holden, Jr. of Norwich and Scott (Kerri) Harrington of Oneonta; five great grandchildren, Susan and Michael Ahearn of Arizona, Thane Weigle of Laurens, Donald R. Holden of Norwich and Meghan Harrington of Oneonta; and another soon to be great granddaughter, Addison Harrington also of Oneonta; one sister, Neva (Gene) Grzeskiewicz of California; one brother, Stuart (Barbara) Gardner of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Ida (Maurice) Mosier Stranagan of Laurens; as well as several nieces and nephews, especially Nancy Bedford of Oneonta. She was predeceased by her son, Donald Holden Sr; son-in-law, Stanley Harrington; grandson, Steven Harrington; six brothers, Harold, Lyle, Lynn, Ward, Allen and Ira; and three sisters, Ruth, Cora and Gladys.
At Lois’ request there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held in the spring in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery. Memorial donation’s in Lois’ name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
