She was born on July 28, 1947 in Oneonta, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Washburn) Hungerford.
Mariel retired from AO Fox Memorial Hospital Nursing Home after working 30+ years. She took great pride in her work and making sure that her patients were as comfortable as possible.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to country music (especially Conway Twitty) and gospel music by Elvis. She had a big collection of green glass and was fond of her indoor plants.
She survived by her three Children, their spouses and children, Son Joseph Tremain (MaryAnn), Granddaughter, Amanda Tremain, Grandson, Joseph Jr Tremain (Meaghan), grandson Andrew (Samantha) Tremain and great grandchildren, Kaiden and Chandler Tremain, Daughter, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Thorne, granddaughters Dakota and Natasha Thorne, Son, Christopher (Penny), Tremain Grandson Tyler Tremain and Granddaughter , Kailee Tremain. Also survived by and very important to her was Bob’s family. She loved spending time with all of them at their family get together. Also survived by her brother, Timothy (Diane) Hungerford, brother, Dennis (Jane) Hungerford, Dale (Kathy) Hungerford and Brother in Law William Streeter.
She was predeceased most recently by her sister, Eleanor Streeter, her lifetime companion, Robert Hzyer, both parents, Daniel Jr. & Mary Hungerford, grandparents, Daniel Sr. & Edith Hungerford and her great grandparents Harry and Clara Oliver.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 1 pm, also at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
