Mary J. Simonds, 84, of Otego, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at AO Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
She was born on March 24, 1934, in Rockrift. She was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Frank Fisher Sr.; son, Frank Prentice; grandson, Chris; brothers, Everett, Frank Jr., Francis, James, Richard and Thomas. Mary was a hard working woman her whole life. She loved her family very much. She always loved to have a good time at all of the family functions. Her brothers had a country band (The Fisher Brothers) which was very well known. She loved going to listen to their music and dance. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, John Simonds of Otego; stepdaughter, Debbie (Rich) Brown of Schenevus; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandi (Tony) Ross and nephew, Chad Ross of Unadilla, and Carol (Pat) Flynn of Pooler, Gorgia; brother, Donald (Joy) Fisher of Oneonta; as well as many additional nieces and nephews. At Mary's request, there will be no funeral service. Calling hours will be announced at a later date. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.grummonsfuneralhome.com. There are so many moments I remember she use to sing to me as a kid till I would fall a sleep she would let me watch wrestling when ever it was on we had a great time when ever we got together she loved Christmas and love singing Christmas songs and the tree food and family .. she was the best .. she was more like a grandma to me then a aunt... she was the sweetest kindest woman on the planet I miss her every day as we would see her on a daily basis no one will ever replace here .. and I know she is with god and pain free ... but I miss and love her terribley
